Start Where You Are
Could you benefit from a place to take some time out to explore your thoughts and feelings and access your well-being?
Maybe you suffer from depression or anxiety, are worn out with worry, struggling to cope with pressure and stress, feeling stuck and unsatisfied with your life, are overwhelmed with sadness or anger? Whatever you’re struggling with we can work together to help you create greater ease, health and joy in your life. Getting started with therapy takes a lot of courage so my goal initially is to create a warm and safe environment where you’ll feel comfortable sharing anything that troubles you.
As young people, we learn patterns of behaviour to deal with our circumstances. In adulthood, these may no longer be appropriate or helpful and we may feel stuck and unhappy. Therapy can help to identify these patterns and find new ways of responding. Together, we can explore how your patterns of thinking and behaviours impact your wellbeing and relationships. I can help you reconnect with your strengths and resilience and build new skills to better manage your distress.
The first counselling session is about us getting to know each other a little bit and easing anxieties. Most people are anxious at their first meeting with a therapist. It is perfectly normal. If we do decide to begin therapy together we can explore the options for beginning. If you feel you would like time to think about whether I am the right therapist for you, that is fine, and it is also OK if you decide that I am not the right therapist for you. The purpose of this exploratory session is to make these kinds of decisions.
